Twisted Garlic Knots

Hello Twisted Garlic Knots!!

These are perfect for pairing with a delicious dinner! I glazed the knots with a garlic and parsley mixture and they were sooooo good!

If you've got some time to spare this Sunday, I highly recommend giving these a try. The longest part about baking these is allowing an hour for the dough to proof before you bake them off. It only takes about 16 minutes for them to finish baking after proofing!

I hope you all enjoy :)

Twisted Garlic Knots Recipe:

Yield: 12 Servings

Cook Time: 2 Hr

Ingredients:

- ¼ Cup Warm Water

- 1 ¼ tsp Dry Active Yeast

- 1/8 Cup + 1 tsp Granulated Sugar or Sugar In The Raw, Pulverized

- 2 ¼ Cup Whole Wheat Flour or Bread Flour

- 1/3 Cup Whole Milk or Soy Milk

- 2 Tbsp Melted Butter or Earth Balance

- 1 Large Egg or Egg Replacer

- 2 tsp Sea Salt

- Herb Butter:

o 3 Garlic Cloves, Minced

o 3 Tbsp Fresh Parsley

o 1 tsp Sea Salt

o 2 Tbsp Olive Oil or 2 Tbsp Butter or Earth Balance, Melted

- Garnish: Herb Butter & Parmesan Cheese (Or plant-based alternative)

Directions:

1. Gather all ingredients & measure out. Rinse & dry parsley and set aside.

2. First, prepare the dough for the garlic knots by adding ¼ cup warm water, 1 ¼ tsp dry active yeast, and 1 tsp granulated sugar to a large mixing bowl. Let sit for 10 minutes.

3. Once the yeast mixture begins to foam, add the remaining 1/8 cup sugar, 2 ¼ cup whole wheat or bread flour, 1/3 cup milk, 2 Tbsp butter, 1 large egg, and 2 tsp of sea salt. Mix using a dough hook attachment or knead by hand.

4. Next, let the dough mix for a total of 5-6 minutes until it becomes shiny and elastic. Gather a large bowl and grease the inside of it using cooking spray or olive oil.

5. Add the dough and turn until it is completely covered in oil and place a damp cloth over the top of the bowl. Let the dough proof for 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.

6. After it has doubled, pour the dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and carefully pluck off ping-pong ball sized pieces of dough and roll into a rope.

7. The rope will be about 8 inches long and ½ inch thick. Take the rope and make one knot with it. Let the knots proof on a Silpat lined baking sheet for 40 minutes and then bake in a pre-heated oven at 400°F for 9-11 minutes.

8. While the knots are baking, prepare the herb butter by adding all ingredients to a food processor or blender and then blend until smooth.

9. Remove from the knots from the oven before their bottoms start turning brown. And brush knots with the herb butter once they have been removed from the oven, serve with marinara or ranch, enjoy!

Tips/Tricks:

- I love dipping garlic knots in marinara for an extra delicious treat!

- If you don’t have a Silpat for baking, you can also use parchment paper to bake on for a mess-free baking experience! (I honestly recommend baking with Silpats, I have linked my favorite brand below from Amazon) :)
