Tarte Tatin French Oatmeal

Tarte Tatin is typically a French dessert with roasted apples and ice cream.

This is my healthy breakfast version of such a delicious French creation, I hope you all give it a try :)

This is my new breakfast favorite and even my little brother thought it was delicious when I went back home to visit with my mom!

Tarte Tatin French Oatmeal Recipe:

Yield: 2 Servings

Cook Time: 10 Min

Ingredients:

- 2 Apples, Cut in Half + Cored (I used Pink Lady)

- ¼ Cup Earth Balance or Butter

- 2 tsp Cinnamon

- 1 tsp Ground Cloves

- 1/3 Cup Brown Sugar or Coconut Sugar

- 1 Cup Old Fashioned Rolled Oats

- 2/3 Cups Almond Milk or Whole Milk

- Garnish: Sliced Almonds, Dried Cranberries, Cinnamon, Brown Sugar, or

Coconut Sugar, Roasted + Chopped Apples

Directions:

1. Gather all ingredients. Preheat oven to 375°F. Wash and dry apples. Slice in half and then remove the core and seeds.

2. In a saucepan, add ¼ cup earth balance or butter and let melt. Then add 2 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp cloves, and 1/3 cup brown sugar or coconut sugar. Cook for 3 minutes over medium heat and then set aside.

3. Place apple halves with core side down in a buttered baking dish. Pour the brown sugar mixture over the apples and roast apples for 30 minutes.

4. Remove and let cool. (You can even refrigerate these overnight and warm up the next day for even more flavor!).

5. Next, prepare oatmeal by bringing almond milk or whole milk to a boil and adding the oats. Cook for 4-5 minutes until the oatmeal is smooth and creamy. Remove from heat and then place on a plate or bowl.

6. Chop the roasted apples up and reheat in a skillet if you’d like. Garnish with desired garnishes, enjoy! :)

Tips/Tricks:

- I prefer roasting the apples the night before and them slicing them in the morning.
