Grilled Brioche Black Bean Burgers

Hello there Grilled Brioche Black Bean Burgers!

These were homemade with dried black beans! The recipe is very simple and much healthier than buying frozen, store-bought patties made in a warehouse.

My husband and I paired these babies with some delicious potato salad and had a great time making them together!

I hope you all enjoy :)

Grilled Brioche Black Bean Burgers Recipe:

Yield: 2 Servings

Cook Time: 30 Min

Ingredients:

- 8 oz Dried Black Beans, Soaked Overnight *(You can also use canned black beans)

- ¼ Cup Diced Yellow Onion

- ¼ Cup Diced Green Bell Pepper

- ¼ Cup Red Bell Pepper

- 1 Tbsp Minced Garlic

- ½ tsp Chili Powder

- 1 tsp Cumin

- 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce

- 1 tsp Sea Salt

- 1 tsp Fresh Cracked Black Pepper

- 1/8 Cup Panko Breadcrumbs

- Optional: 1 Tbsp Nutritional Yeast

- 2 Brioche Hamburger Buns

- Garnish: Fresh Sliced Tomatoes, Pickles, Lettuce, Red Onion, Cheddar Cheese

Directions:

1. Soak black beans overnight if you remember or have on hand :) Gather all ingredients & measure out. Wash and dry vegetables.

2. Dice yellow onion, green bell pepper, red bell pepper, and mince the garlic.

3. In a large bowl, add ¼ cup yellow onion, ¼ cup green + red bell peppers, 1 Tbsp minced garlic, ½ tsp chili powder, 1 tsp cumin, 1 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp sea salt, 1 tsp fresh cracked black pepper, 1/8 cup Panko breadcrumbs, and 1 Tbsp nutritional yeast.

4. Mash the ingredients together and mix until evenly distributed. Next, rinse the soaked black beans and add them to the bowl. Continue to mash until beans are incorporated evenly.

5. Separate the mixture into two and form each half into a hamburger patty. Heat a large skillet or stove top grill over high heat and add butter or cooking spray to grease the pan.

6. Add the hamburger patties to the skillet or grill and cook for 5-6 minutes, flipping each side after about 3 minutes. Make sure the patties are cooked throughout and add your cheese if desired.

7. Grill the tops and bottoms of your brioche buns and then add your black bean patty and top with garnishes of choice, enjoy :)

Tips/Tricks:

- If you have gloves on hand, I recommend using them when you are making the patties, it’ll be much easier to do :)

- Cooking these over a traditional grill, might cause some issues, the patty might fall through the grate, I recommend either a skillet or the stovetop grill I linked below from Amazon.
