Gooey Dark Chocolate Brownies w/ Dehydrated Strawberries Recipe:
Yield: 8 Servings
Cook Time: 45 Min
Ingredients:
- ¼ Cup Whole Wheat Flour
- ¼ Cup All-Purpose Flour
- ¾ Cup Dutch Process Cocoa Powder
- 1 ¼ Cup Granulated White Sugar or Finely Ground Coconut Sugar
- ½ tsp Sea Salt
- ½ Cup + 2 Tbsp Butter or Earth Balance, Melted
- 1 Tbsp Vanilla Extract
- 2 Large Eggs or Substitute Bob’s Red Mill Egg Replacer
- Garnish: ½ Cup Dehydrated Strawberries
Directions:
1. Gather all ingredients & measure out. If you’re making your own dehydrated strawberries, preheat oven to 150°F. Slice strawberries very thin and layer on a Silpat. Bake for 1 hour until they are crisp + dehydrated.
2. If using store bought dehydrated strawberries, preheat oven to 350°F and lightly spray a 9x13 baking dish with cooking spray or layer with parchment paper.
3. Next, gather a large mixing bowl. Add ¼ cup whole wheat flour, ¼ cup all-purpose flour, ¾ cup Dutch process cocoa powder, 1 ¼ cup granulated or coconut sugar, and ½ tsp sea salt. Mix together with a spoon or whisk.
4. In the same bowl, add the ½ cup + 2 Tbsp melted butter or earth balance, 1 Tbsp vanilla extract, and 2 large eggs or egg replacer. Mix together using as few strokes as possible until the batter is incorporated.
5. Carefully pour the brownie batter into your greased 9x13 baking dish and place in the middle rack of the oven, bake for 20-25 minutes.
6. When the brownies are about 2 minutes away from being finished, remove from the oven and carefully press your dehydrated strawberries into the top layer of brownie, and then let continue to bake for additional 2 minutes.
7. Once finished baking, remove from the oven and let completely cool before you attempt to cut them into squares, enjoy! :)
Tips/Tricks:
- Use a clean toothpick to check and see if the brownies are finished at 20 minutes, everyone’s oven is different, so it might take up to 25 minutes to finish baking :)
- You don’t necessarily need to use whole wheat flour in this recipe, it is simply helping add more nutritional content to the brownies, however you can substitute all-purpose flour if you prefer!
