First of all, YUM!
If you have never had fondue before, I recommend giving it a try if you enjoy eating cheese... I'm a cheese lover if you haven't discovered that yet, haha.
You can easily alter this recipe to create a plant-based version if you are dairy-sensitive or vegan :)
This recipe is delicious and tastes great paired with most vegetables, crackers, or breads for dipping. Having a fondue party is also a great way to start off a game night with friends & family or couple's date night, I hope you enjoy! :)
Fondue for Four Recipe:
Yield: 4 Servings
Cook Time: 25 Min
Ingredients:
- 4 oz Fontina or Swiss Cheese
- 3.5 oz Shredded Gruyere
- 3.5 oz Shredded Gouda
- 1 Tbsp Cornstarch or All-Purpose Flour
- 1 Garlic Clove, Minced
- ½ Cup Dry White Wine (I prefer Chardonnay!)
- ½ tsp Dijon Mustard
- Sea Salt
- Black Pepper
- Ciabatta Bread, Cubed for Dipping
Directions:
1. In a large bowl, add all cheeses and toss with the cornstarch/flour. And the minced garlic and stir. In a medium sauce pot, add the white wine and bring to a simmer.
2. Add cheese slowly in batches and let completely melt. Once the mixture has melted and the fondue is bubbling, add the Dijon mustard and season with salt and pepper.
3. You can add the melted fondue to a fondue pot, or you can use a glass & ceramic fondue set like the one pictured above.
4. Serve with ciabatta or fresh baked bread and fruit of choice! Enjoy :)
Tips/Tricks:
- Pair with baguettes, crackers, pretzels, pear, apples, broccoli, cauliflower.
- You can also add any other cheeses you would like, or substitute one!
