Dutch Butter Skillet Cake

First of all, butter is amazing! And this skillet cake has the perfect combination of buttery goodness with a beautiful, delicate crust! Top it with a light coating of powdered sugar and you're all set with a delicious dish that will be sure to impress!


Dutch Butter Skillet Cake Recipe:


Yield: 8-10 Slices

Cook Time: 1 Hr 15 Min

Ingredients:

- 3 Cups All Purpose Flour or 1 ½ Cups

Whole Wheat Flour + 1 ½ Cups AP Flour*

- 12 oz Salted Butter

- 1 Cup Sugar

- ½ tsp Sea Salt

- Optional: Powdered Sugar for Topping

Directions:

1. First, measure out all of the ingredients.

2. Next, combine the flour, sugar, and salt together in a medium-sized mixing bowl.

3. Melt the butter and slowly add to the flour mixture, while stirring.

4. Mix together using a spatula until the batter begins to look smooth and slightly shiny.

5. Add batter to a greased cake pan round or skillet.

6. Bake in oven at 350 degrees for 35 minutes or until the edges turn golden brown.

7. Let cake cool for 20-30 minutes before cutting and serving.

8. Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving, if desired, enjoy!


Tips/Tricks:

- *Making the cake with ½ whole wheat flour and ½ AP flour, will yield a more nutrient- dense cake!

- Baking the cake in a skillet will create a crisper crust, rather than a cake pan.
