Need a delicious pick-me-up this winter? I highly recommend this homemade apple cider recipe! The longer you let it simmer, the better the cider becomes! You can also spike your cider with your favorite alcohol if you're feeling extra adventurous, I hope you enjoy :)
Apple Cider w/ Orange Slices & Cinnamon Sticks Recipe:
Yield: 1 Quart
Cook Time: 2 Hr 10 Min
Ingredients:
- 5 Apples, Quartered
- ¼ Orange, Halved
- 2 Cinnamon Sticks
- ½ tsp Cloves
- ½ tsp Whole Allspice
- ½ tsp Whole Nutmeg
- ¼ Cup Packed Brown Sugar
- Optional Garnish: Orange Slices & Cinnamon Sticks
Directions:
1. In a large stock pot, add the apples, orange, cinnamon sticks, all the spices, and brown sugar.
2. Cover with water, at least 2 inches above the ingredients.
3. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer for 1 ½ hours or longer. Keep stock pot covered the entire time.
4. Remove orange halves and simmer for thirty minutes longer.
5. Strain and serve cider warm, enjoy!
Tips/Tricks:
- The longer the cider simmers for, the more flavorful it will be!
- You can also make this in a crock pot and let simmer while you’re away at work all day!
